The Weather Lore was a newsletter/booklet published monthly by
Headquarters 6th Weather Squadron (Regional) at Albrook Field, Canal Zone.
The 6th Weather Squadron encompassed many countries in Central and South
America.
Thomas Renner, whose daughter Dawn and her husband James
donated these booklets to 6WSAA, was an editor and writer of The Weather
Lore at Albrook. He served in the Air Force 6th Weather Squadron
from 1950 to 53. Thomas was later a newspaper reporter for 36 years, an
investigative reporter for Newsday, and over the years he wrote several
books about organized-crime figures including ''Mafia Princess,'' in 1984, a
best seller on which he collaborated with Antoinette Giancana, and ''My Life
in the Mafia,'' a collaboration with Vince Teresa, in 1973. We thank Dawn
and James for giving us these booklets which give us a look into the 6th
Weather Squadron (Regional) history of the late 40s and early 50s at Albrook
in the Canal Zone and the region.
In some of these booklets, the pages have darkened over
the 70 years since they were printed using a Mimeograph machine with a
stencil. Some inks were black and some blue. So some might be harder to read
but it's the best I could enhance the booklets.
