2003 Reunion Pics
The 2003 Reunion of the 6th Weather Squadron Alumni Association was held at the Holiday Inn Airport, Oklahoma City June 4 thru 8, 2003. There were approximately 60 members, spouses and friends in attendance and sharing stories, reminiscing of the years past, different projects, countries, good times and the special characters which made up the 6th Mob. The hotel's atrium was the gathering place and the center of activity for talking, relaxing, round table discussions, sign-in, activity planning and of course some drinking, coffee too. Most attendees signed in on Thursday, received their name tags, activity schedule, program and settled in their rooms and gathered in the atrium to meet and greet with everyone gathered there. The hospitality room was adjacent and easily accessible for snacks and drinks. Friday morning thirty or so members boarded a Tinker AFB blue bus for a tour of the main base area and the South-40 area where so many launches took place and where the 6th Weather Maintenance facility was located. Things were quite different now, not nearly resembling the South-40 area we knew then. They found a way to fill in all the open area I remember that prevailed in the 60s. Tour members broke for a good lunch at the all Ranks Club before returning to the hotel. Saturday members were on their own for touring the OKC and Midwest City areas and attractions such as the OKC Bricktown buildings and canal, a popular area. Some also visited the Oklahoma City Memorial, the site of the deadly explosion at the Murrah Federal Building eight years earlier. The highlight of the weekend was the Banquet with a delicious varied menu to please all palates, followed by the awards and prize drawings, then music of the Flying High Band including our own Jerry Hunt on the saxophone. Packing, breakfast and goodbyes were the agenda for Sunday morning ending a great weekend with great friends. Take a look at the pictures from the 2003 Reunion by clicking on the buttons below. |
