30 Years in the making.
The 2015 6WSAA Reunion took place at Wyndham Garden Hotel on June 10 - 14, 2015.
The camaraderie, the memories, the people, the facilities, the banquet and food
were all outstanding and everyone departed on Sunday with a good feeling for our
association and get-together.
Early bird arrival on
Wednesday allowed members to greet one another and start the sharing of stories
of the old days in 6th Weather Squadron which lasted up till the banquet
Saturday night. A few people who had made reservations to attend the reunion had
to cancel at the last minute because of health problems and weather related road
conditions. As we age I think we can all understand these implications and to
those who whished they could attend but just could not, we are sorry they could
not make it and hope they might be able to attend next year's reunion in 2016.
Yes I said 2016, not two years from now in 2017, stay tuned for more info.
Some of us took in a
baseball game Thursday night at the Bricktown Ballpark to watch the OKC Dodgers
play the Nashville Sounds. It was a perfect weather night and we had fun at the
game. Others did their own thing in and around Oklahoma City.
Saturday's agenda included the General Membership Meeting
in the morning and the reunion's main event, the evening Reunion Banquet
where a delicious hot buffet dinner was served followed by drawings for the
cross stitch 6th Weather emblem won by Buck Bucklin and created
by Shirley Eldringhoff.
Some members had early
Sunday morning flights to return home and others had breakfast together before
hitting the road home. The reunion was a success and a big Thanks to all those
who made it possible.
